Urgent: Save Angraecum infundibulare. leaves shriveling. How to repot this one.
Hello all,
I have this angraecum infundibulare that isn’t happy at all. The leaves starting shriveling so I took it out of the pot to check the roots. They aren’t great as many are either dried out or soggy. I think the potting situation it was in wasn’t good for my conditions (70-90s temps, water once to twice a week or more, medium humidity). How do I save it? How should it be potted?

I think the first step is to show photos or state how this orchid was originally potted, and for how long roughly was it potted that way.
In my tropical region here, recently with humidity as low as 20 odd percent to 30 percent, I grow Angraecum and other orchids in scoria - such as phal, catt, onc, vanilla orchid, phrag, paph, psycopsis, vanda, dend, and even catasetum and most recently cymbidium. All do very nicely in this medium - for my region. The cymbidium hasn't wilted or anything - I only just started growing cymbidium very recently.
You haven't yet mentioned what medium you used. But how about a bark/perlite mix? That could work nicely for you.
Normally, the humidity in my region is much much higher than these low values in the 20 to 30% range.

Hello Southpark,
Thank you for your reply.
I did end up going with a bark perlite mix. I also put it into a slightly larger pot to fit more air roots in the pot.
Apparently, after some more careful research, these like to be attached to a moss pole.
After I repotted it, I was able to fashion one out of cardboard and floss. The original seller apparently had it attached to cedar and moss poles for extra moisture on the air roots but did not ship them with the plant and I was unaware that these plants needed that.
Hopefully my changes will be beneficial.

Most welcome Brassa ----- nice work. The orchid seen in the photo you captured still looks to be in pretty good shape, roots and all. All the best with this one. It'll likely be just fine!

The fact that it has aerial roots up the stem implies that it really would like to be mounted, maybe on tree fern, with some sphagnum around the roots.. If you can maintain it that way, excellent. If not, I'd pot it in sphagnum, loosely packed, and keep it moist - misting the roots that aren't in the medium. It does look dehydrated, and roots look good which says "more humidity, more water, please..."

Good luck with it! I don't grow this one so I cannot offer any advice but it looks as though you are getting plenty of help so that is good.
How large does this one get?
