I got this paph in the mail. The box was delayed in transit (expected at this time) and arrived torn open with a giant hole in the packing (not expected at any time).
The vendor said this little guy definitely did not look like this when he was sent. Considering the shape the box was in, I'm sure it's accurate.
I'd still like to save this guy. He had a big brown spot on the leaf that started spreading very quickly, I cut the leaf off (that's the first picture).
I also notice these much smaller spots on a leaf (second photo) that looks like it was bruised in transit (possible bruising third photo). Would you say leave it unless it starts spreading? The leaf is the SLIGHTEST bit less green than the others but certainly not completely sick looking.
I would keep monitoring those spots. Probably they'll dry out, but if they spread a good fungicide is the first step (although the first photo shows a similar pattern of bacterial infection).
Yes that big brown spot definitely looked like bacteria, had the "wet" look as it spread also... I cut that off, just hoping it will go ok since it was close to the crown already

Yes, I think that was a good decision...did you put cinnamon on the cut?
My cinnamon was a bit old and from a cheap supermarket source - I read the goal is to dry the area, so I opted for 50/50 water and isopropyl. Hope that was ok.
Let me tell you, it's the cheapest worst old cinnamon, I could definitely use an upgrade. I use it rarely in cooking and every time I do, I think - ugh I should buy a new one.
