Ponerorchis graminifolia
I just found a source for one of my favorite orchids, Ponerorchids graminifolia and I am thinking about purchasing one. Before I do, I thought it would be a good idea to find out if I can actually grow it first. My main question is about temperature during rest, does it need to be particularly cool while dormant or can it just stay around the same temperature just with less water.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you talking Nemaconia graminifolia or Scaphyglottis graminifolia?
The former is a cool grower and later is int-warm.

I've just searched "ponerorchis" in the forum. I think Subrosa and AnonYMouse have grown this species before. Maybe try replying to their threads or something like that...

I have done a bit more research and it seems like I should be able to manage it. I will probably have to keep it in the fridge over winter as it stays too warm in my house and gets much too cold outside (-20f or lower).

There's much more to climate than latitude. Parts of Japan are subtropical, and only the highest elevations of the most northerly islands have a climate approaching MT. P. graminifolia is supposedly hardy to only zone 6, around -10° F. I planted some in a dryer section of my zone 6B bog garden a couple weeks ago. Still waiting on them to come up.
