Phal with no potted roots but lots of aerial - salvageable?

Stripey, I would put it in the new pot if that is what you prefer. Your phal won't mind at all. Let it settle for 24 hours without water after you move it, to allow any damage from the potting to heal over. It should be no problem.

My clear pot arrived today. I drilled some extra holes in the sides for extra ventilation. Soaked her for a little then re-potted. Have a nice clear view on some of the roots now! Have moved her downstairs to the dining room where she’s sitting with my other phal now and also her cut flower spike which is in water and the blooms still look lovely.

Looks good. Now leave it to adjust to its new pot. Being able to see the roots is very helpful. Silvery, needs water. Green roots don't water. The old roots that were in the pot most likely failed because the medium it was planted in degraded over time. Now you can also keep an eye on that as well. Usually a year or two using bark, depending on type of bark, then time for a repot.

Well done stripey. Definitely looks good. Remember - avoid super/very wet media/roots for relatively long periods of time, and maintain good air-flow around the growing area and within the pot and around roots (which you've done) --- and now we're all looking forward to a speedy recovery!
