Angraecoid Recommendations by Fragrance Male
Default Angraecum/Aerangis Recommendation

Hello all,

I am thinking about getting more Angraecoids but since I am running out of room, I need to think carefully about which ones I choose. When it comes to Angraecoids, I select plants almost exclusively on fragrance. Would anyone be able to tell me about which ones smell particularly good?

Currently I have:
Angcm. Sesquipedale
Alabaster
Crestwood
Dolii
Leonis
Grandalena
Eichlerianum
Equitans
Birrimense
Eburneum
Infundibulare
Magdalenae
Lemforde white beauty
Elephantinum
Didieri
Oeoniella Polystachys
Aerth Grandiflora
Caudata
Setipes

I was thinking of adding a few of the following to my collection:
Pseudofilicornu
Compactum
Longiscott
Germinyanum
Scottianum
Aerangis Fastuosa
Aerangis Biloba

I tend to like fragrances similar to easter lilies, citrus blossoms, and Arabian/Sambac jasmine. So far, my favorite scented Angraecum is the Leonis and one of my favorite smelling orchids is the Rl. Glauca.

Are any of the above I am considering particularly fragrant (preferably in that sweet kind of way like the leonis)? Are there others I should be considering?

I totally recommend Aerangis fastuosa!
It is amazingly fragrant with such small flowers - smells like cloves to me. The important thing to know is that it is fragrant just after dark and before dawn. At other times during the night it is not fragrant at all.

Wow! That is beautiful. I am not sure how I feel about the clove smell but I will definitely consider it.

I am still discovering Aerangis orchids and as I continue to read, I am finding out about other interesting looking species such as Aerangis mystacidii, kirkii, kotschyana, and articulata. Are any of those as noteworthy and fragrant as the beautiful plant pictured above?

What about other kinds like Eurychone, Cytorchis or Dendrophylax?
