Is it too late to repot these Catasetums ?
I want to repot these two Catasetums but I'm wondering if I missed my chance?
Thank you

the first one is prime time for repotting...the second one with the roots is more complicated...i would see if i could wiggle it out of the pot and back fill around the rootball in a bigger pot- avoid actually touching or disturbing the roots but providing more room for it to grow this year

The first photo shows a great time to repot. That small growth will have little to root growth, so repotting now is good.
The second photo shows a plant that is typically considered too far along to repot, since there's a high probability you'll snap the new roots. However, in this case, the current pot is so completely unsuitable that I think you'll have to repot it. Just be careful with the new roots and be sure to stake the plant so it doesn't wobble in its new pot.

I mostly agree!
I'm curious to see what the media looks like in that second photo tho. Is it terrible?

There isn't much medium at all. What medium it has it looks okay I think but there isn't much there.
I purchased it last Nov like this and been meaning to repot, thinking to do it in the Spring ( now ) but it developed growth faster than I expected.
I'm also wondering if the roots which are coming out below .. those are old right? If I try and cut the pot off , would it be okay if I hurt these old roots?

If media is ok, then you should follow dirtycoconuts' advice and slip the rootball out and put it in a larger container with media (probably long fiber spag). Try not to hurt the new roots, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Looks like most new roots are above the pot anyway.

this is so true and so often overlooked as we try to be ALL GIVING to these plants....
if you are slow and patient it will increase the chance that you DONT damage the new roots...slow and steady

I'm hoping you guys will see this message. I should have asked this but just thought about it.
I managed to get it out of the pot but like you mentioned, all the roots ( all but one really ) are above the medium and the plant is growing side ways.
I'm wondering if I should try and cover those roots ?
What about planting the new plant upright ? I was wondering if I could bury the old plants so it's upright?
