when i repot mine and they have odd angles like that i kind of try to split the difference and orient it so both are as upright as possible rather than one horizontal and one upright.

I'd go into a 4' clay pot with a really open mix and put that in the pot at around a 45 degree angle and then fill in around

Thanks. Okay I'll see if I can get this to work. I don't have any clay pots just plastic but one is 6 inches.

Okay so I re-potted that one but question about the other catasetum. It's packed in moss and I would like to repot it into a manure mix as mentioned in this post
I need advice on Catasetums please.

How can I get it out of this moss? With most plants I would soak it but I know with catasetums they shouldn't have any water until they have new 3" roots.

Can I just break off all this moss and roots ?

Use pruning shears or strong scissors to chop the old moss/roots off that plant from a square pot.

I would say the new pot in the third photo is probably too big. You might consider downsizing quite a bit.

Thanks for the advice on the square and the size. Hmm .. I'll have to see if I can tilt the plant any in a smaller pot. If I can't is that a horrible thing?

I don’t use the manure tech but Steve is the real expert so I’d always lean his way over mine. Like I said, my method is dialed in for me my style and I am always still learning.

Ya, that media will probably sour more quickly than you'd prefer in such a large pot. Something else to consider is you'll want to have the new growth facing the middle of the pot. It looks like the new growth is facing the back of the pot and would "outgrow" it in a single season.

I wouldn't worry about planting "upright". The plant will orientate itself as it grows. Even if its a little off center, it won't matter.

I managed to get it one size down and changed it around so I hope it's good. Thank You
