I agree w SouthPark. Rub a damp paper towel on the underside of your leaves. If you see any red streaks, it's mites. I'd spray regardless. It's suspicious to me that it happened so suddenly, but mites can do that. It certainly doesn't help that the roots are failing. The old timers here often told me to punch a few holes in a clear produce bag and set it over the plant to bump up humidity. It gives the plant a mini greenhouse to recover in after you repot.

Thanks everyone for your help. I rubbed it paper towel on the bottom of the leaf and don’t see anything. However, I will treat it. I did repot in lava rock, Will watch it carefully. On another note, as I am just learning about all the insect pests, I think I may have snails or slugs in another orchid. Photo posted below, thoughts?

That looks mechanical to me but, when I suspect slugs or snails, I immerse the pot in warm soapy water. It causes them to escape or drown. In which case you can pick them off and dispose of them.

The setup looks great littleflower. With that particular setup you have right now with the lava rock and excellent drainage ------ you can pretty much water at any time you like --- and as much as you like.

The wall looks quite bright ----- illuminated a lot by light. Your orchid can probably handle quite bright light ----- maybe even direct sunlight. Sun-hardening (gradual exposure to more and more light) often helps (if the orchid hasn't been sun-hardened yet).

For the moment - to recover a bit ---- put the orchid in a spot with nice air-movement, and no direct-path sunlight. Anyway - your new pot setup looks great.

Thank you so much SouthPark for the encouraging words!

Early, I believe it’s a dendrobium. I Purchased it from the grocery store, and the tag only said “orchid”😁

It appears to be a Dendrobium phalaenopsis, or Den Phal. It's not related to phals, it got the name for the shape of the flowers (I believe.)

I am in an adobe house with bright white walls. I was wondering about reflected light off walls.

Thank You South Park.
Are you or your orchids suffering from close by fires or all the smoke? I am so sorry Australia has been so hard hit.

Early - bright white walls is absolutely no problem. I think that some reflection off walls can even help illuminate sides of plants that otherwise would have less illumination by reflection.

I live in North East Queensland - so not greatly affected by the smoke from the recent fires. Although - in early January, I was in Brisbane and the Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise) area - for short holidays. These regions are closer to New South Wales (a state of Australia), but still a fair distance from the fires. And there, we certainly saw lots of smoke in the air, from our plane (coming in to land). And definitely had some sniffles and common-cold like symptoms - maybe from the smoke.

The recent big rains has stamped out most or even all the fires now, which is good. But those rains were huge - so now it's an issue of big floods.

South Park. I had a long time friend online that lived in Victoria. I lived in So Calif. many years, and the last few years in the mountains. So I know about fires and rain/floods and road closures. One fire came though the area just after I moved. Glad you are safe.
