I backed off (distance) my lamp and also cut it to 12hrs, a week or so ago.
It does, with this medium, require much more frequent watering! (was it you that warned about that?

So, too much water, or too frequent, could be ....
I guess I will have to test the dryness boundary -- which for me means mostly visually, simply: watching the plant.
(not only can you not really stick your fingers in this stuff, it very airy anyway. "feel" is still part of watching, though.)

ps. this pot is for an orchid, i suppose. it has air. but not in the bottom center; and the outter holder pot shell has none. I think I'd like to take a soldering iron to both bottoms in the center, maybe a 1/2 inch hole or so. idk. I realize I'd possibly be adding to the dry out speed, water freq. It's just: I like holes there. hmmm. that was weird. coulda been worse.
