Thanks for the super detailed advice! I will water more regularly.

To give some background on this plant, I bought it from an ebay seller last autumn. This ebay seller was another home grower who had it in her conservatory and this was a division from another plant of hers. As I received it last year the medium looked pretty fresh.

The challenge I have with my current setup is the sheer variability with seasons and just day to day. Over winter I keep the orchids in south + southwest facing windows, then switch over some time around February to east facing. I had thought the oncidiums like a bit more light (vs. eg Phals) so I left them in the SW window a bit longer which is when they picked up the yellow colouring. Since then they've been in the east facing window.

I had erred on the side of underwatering over the winter as generally the temperature drops on the windowsill. Meanwhile RH heads upto 80% consistently (cold damp UK!). I did try placing it under a grow light for a while, but then there is the issue of how close to place it etc. Also, I have never noticed any shriveling in the bulbs or accordian leaves, so hadn't thought to up the water anymore.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice. I will persevere and water more often now especially during the summer! I have some fresh media so likely will try a repot this weekend also (but keep in the same pot).

It's hard to overwater on Oncidium growing in bark. I have this plant growing in small scoria and it is outside now. i water it every day. It grows under a tree with filtered light all day, and the color is great. I just got it less than a year ago, and the new growth is smaller than the last one, but I attribute to the drastic change in growing medium (it was in sphag when I got it, and once i saw new roots coming, I repotted it into small sscoria, which probably killed all the old roots, so the new roots is all it's got left, i think). I think it will just take a year to recover and get back on track, although it did not lose any leaves.. But yes, I have it in pretty low light, and I water constantly, so I agree with ES. He knows his stuff, so I'd listen to him if I were you.

I wouldn't repot. The bark looks OK.
