Another light question.

When it was warmer, all my Phal were about 6 to 10 feet away from windows that come in at a ESE angle. when the house became colder, I moved my table across the room 5 + feet from forced air heat. stays between 19 and 23*s night/day. I have very high south windows that gets about an hour sunlight directly on the orchids, less if I remember to move them slightly.

Question is I know direct sun is not good for Phals. In the warmer months is 5 and 10 feet of direct sun damaging. In the cooler months, The south high windows are at least 18 feet away at the angle. How damaging is a hour of sun a day. It has been cloudy for about a week here. So they do not get the sun every day

I’d say watch your leaves. I think they will be totally fine but just be watchful. Winter sun is weaker and an hour is not a long time for window filtered light.

The plants "view" the window as the light source, considering the distance, angle of the sun, etc., if the plants have not burned so far, they're probably fine, but I'd keep an eye on them as the seasons change.

DC and Ray. That helps a lot. the new leaf is the first one I have seen since I started buying phals early last year.
It is on my oldest still blooming one. I am excited to know I must be doing something right.
