Staking Brassavola

I have a Brassavola about to start blooming, and I’m wondering if it’s leaning so much that stakes would be helpful. I bought it this summer and potted it in leca, so it’s probably growing a new set of roots. The plant seems pretty stable however

These tend to be somewhat pendulous. So whit it is doing is just following its nature. I grow them either in a basket (the growths hang over the edge) or mounted, and let them do what they naturally want to do.

I agree 100% with the above. That is how I do it.

However, as you have it in a pot on a windowsill, you might be a prime candidate for a pot clip rather than a stake.

They look like a ring with a stick coming out that clips in the pot and holds the leaves up. Ray said they were developed to keep Catt upright.

I am more inclined to the “let it do what it does in nature” side, but a vast majority of or his owners pamper them for the best possible looks

Congrats on getting that to spike!

I tried growing that for 5 years in Atlanta and it was simply recalcitrant. I had Catts and Laelias next to it blooming happily, but that... no.

Ha! this one is different than the one you gave me - the one you gave me remains recalcitrant (i need to look that word up). Still very dark green in the leaves.

This one appears to be the same variety that dirty coconuts has in another thread. The guy at the nursery told me it was Brassavola 'Firebird.' i cant find any reference to that online, so it must be Bc. Yellowbird.
