Default Liquid Fertilizer Spill Cleanup

Not sure if this is the right section for this question, but I wasn't sure where to put it.

So, I found today that my dilute mix of 20-20-20 fertilizer in water was leaking, and of course like an idiot I had it sat down on the carpet.

[Edit: Brand is Jack's Professional Water-Soluable Fertilizer]

Anyone know how best to clean it up, other than water and towels? (I don't want to mix anything else into it, although I'm seeing some places on google say to use diluted "non-bleach detergent")

What's safe and best procedure here?

Thanks.

I think that with most stains or staining substances - the faster we act, the better the results.

When water is applied as soon as possible to spread and diluted the substance, it transferred to absorbing cloths/material. In this case - maybe one of those wet vacuum cleaners could have done a nice job in removing the fertiliser.

Everything in it is water soluble, so copious amounts of water and towels or a wet shop vac is your best bet. If there is blue staining, a bit of ammonia in the water will remove it, as it is pH sensitive. (Works on your hands, too!)
