If the album is on Google photos, remember that the folder needs to be shared. (The default is "private")

absolutely. the issue happens to lots of folks. it’s “all over” the ‘net since last year.
and, yes, Sometimes it shows up but with no pictures sometimes it doesn’t show up at all. For example on one of my devices it might show up on another it might not. All sorts of variations can occur. If you use the web browser and go to google photos it may not be there or it might be there. Last night it was today it’s not. Nothing is changed this is a Google issue.

BUT, TRY IT NOW! i tried a different approach (create shared album (already had that) then add pictures, ie, add pictures to an empty shared album — i’ve tried this before and it comes and goes.)
