This orchids are hybrids, plus they might be treated with something during growth in the greenhouse to produce branched spikes, so your bloom may be the result of previous treatments.

indeed I bought mine because it had all these weird little arms on it look like a little stick man.
Of course this new branch didn’t really begin to come out until after all the other flowers were almost gone.
fyi, this is only where I took the picture it’s not where it usually stays.
In the photo the arm on the left bent down to the 90° angle, when those blooms died, the part that was down 90° died and so I cut that off. The new branch Eventually appeared underneath that particular branch.
Many of the buds on the plant when I first got it never did bloom, i.e. they were not viable by the time I got it home and then with the adaptation to its new place.
none of the other orchids had so many arms/branches when I bought it — either one branch off the spike or none.
—If I recall correctly the color is filtered in this photo

Hello Tedro,
Here's a link to some general information on fasciation:
Fascinating Fasciation – Master Gardener Program
Wikipedia also has a good article.
It happens in a lot of different kinds of plants, once you know what it is you'll spot it from time to time. It's usually impossible to figure out the cause.
Have you ever seen a crested cactus? That's another kind of fasciation. We see a few crested (=fasciated) saguaros, people go out of their way to get a look at them. "Monstrous" is another name for fasciated plants, there are a number of monstrous cactus commonly seen in the nursery trade.
Yours is the first fasciated orchid flower I've seen, thanks for sharing your pictures! I also find it interesting.

Hi Jeanie,
thanks for the link! yes I’ve been studying up on it’s on myself and I’ve seen lots of pictures of various forms of it on lots of different plants even daisies! Pretty interesting, I agree!

I I also think what’s really fascinating about this is that this branch shut out after the regular blooming. I think that’s really cool.

I sure hope most of them bloom!
A pleasant Christmas present!
