Hey guys right now i am very intrestead on natural germinatio of orchid seeds.
I have seen the thread created by epifite78 where he was able to germinate orchid seeds on his tree and create plants, he motivated me to try a couple of things similar in miami where i live.
lately i have been attempting to create protocoms from Eulophia graminea which i have found a small group growing on miami beach which was a amazing find.
i sprinkled soil from where the Eulophia graminea was growing on miami beach into a pot of spagnum moss to "intorduce the fungsu" then i probably sowed a millions of seeds into the soil and spag moss mix, i will be misting every day.
can wait for new flower spikes ever since i stole a couple of Eulophia graminea they have been taking off and producing flower which are beautiful.
bit worried i did not notice a whole seedpod open up which released millions of seeds off my balconey towards the sand dunes
My real suspision is that Eulophia graminea can germinate on its own without fungus it is too suspiciou on how well it is doing in florida
Some known orchids which have enough endosperm to germinate on their own is the chinese grown orchd - i am a bit suspious it hasnt taken over florida yet put it probaby will when i add it to my collection soon
i was in a rush to write this so please ask questions
i know my formating is a mess

Rooted in South Florida....
i meant to type Chinese ground orchid not crown orchid
Chinese ground orchid-Bletilla striata are known to germinate without need for fugus some people say they have enough endosperm so that you can just put in wet spag moss and Bletilla striata will germinate.
In my experiment i am germinating Eulophia graminea in spag moss with soil from where i found the wild plants on miami beach, i am doing this because i have a suspicion that they germenate rather easily seeing as the have rappidly spread over the carribaen and florida, they might not even need the fusgus-soil i added to the spagnum moss,
beside the point i am surprised Bletilla striata has not already taken florida over seeing as it seems quite similar to eulophia graminea
ps Bletilla striata is on my wish list because it seems kind of cool to have a orchid where you grow seeds without flasking or fugus-i will update you if i get it ps Andy orchids is selling them on amazon
yes Chinese crown orchid and Eulophia graminea are the same thing
thanks guy i will defiently keep you updaded
thanks dirty coconuts too
