I have my orchids outside in the normally hot, humid, Miami weather. Lately it's been chilly, cold for us tropical people. The other night it got down to 54° ... Then today I noticed there's these like bite marks or almost like scraped off parts on the spikes of these phals.
Could it be from the cold or do I have snails? Or some other pest I haven't considered?
The leaf definitely looks like mechanical damage: either something nibbled it or it got scraped. I had almost identical damage when a bird decided to use an out door Phalaenopsis as a landing pad.
Would be interesting to see a bird land on these as they are quite top-heavy and I don't think they could take a bird weighing on them. They do look like scratches of some sort.
