I have a question about reporting a C. War Paint. Since it has Gur aurantiacsa (50%) as one of its parents, would it dump all of its roots if disturbed?

Any time you repot, you're going to lose some roots. The bigger the difference between the old root zone conditions and the new ones, the more- and faster that loss will be.

That's why it's best to repot just when new roots are emerging from the base of the plant, which often coincides with new growth in cattleyas. The new roots will optimize themselves for the new conditions and take over.
