Default Well, Potinara came with rotted roots😭

So I got a San Domiano Halona in on Wednesday.. The vendor said it was freshly potted but it was in regular pine bark and I prefer orchiata. So I pulled out this morning to go ahead and repot it. And oh boy I'm glad I did. Looks like a hot mess of roots. I think almost all of them are rotted. I cut some of the most egregious ones but was too scared to cut too much. Crazy part is the plant looks actually good. I sprinkled some root hormone on some of the base of the roots hopefully triggers a new growth..
I contacted the vendor a few hours ago. We'll see.

Anyways, a cautionary tale....

That’s a bummer. I got one with bad roots this spring. I had good results with KelpMax in terms of getting root growth going. I didn’t cut any of the old roots either. Sometimes even dead roots can provide some moisture via wicking.

Yes, I'll be adding seaweed extract when I water next time. Honestly, I hope it gets replaced. It is really bad🙄

The vegetative growth and flowers looked good on mine too but I bought it knowing it would probably have root issues (price was right). They have enough reserves in the pseudobulbs to keep them looking good for awhile.
