I never used imidacloprid because some studies show that mites get resistent very rappidly which results in stroger outbreaks. I don't know where to find those reports...it was some time ago.

Imidacloprid is an insecticide... won't kill spidermites, which are arachnids. Ray has suggested a miticide. If you're using anything stronger than a mechanical treatment (like drowning with soap solution) the pesticide needs to be chosen for the specific pest.

According the studies I've mentioned, although imidacloprid is an insecticide, is effective at the first application but that's just that.
I think any chemicals will cause some casualties but not as extended as expected.

Imidacloprid worked for me when I used it. It's more readily available than acephate.

Maybe the outbreak you had was at the beginning. As Roberta very well mentioned, insecticides won't do much against mites. The correct option is an acaricide, for which around here (and any EU country) you need to go under trainning to get a special license to buy and use it.

So I received a lot of options which is great.

I'm thinking I will use the 70% isopropyl alcohol with some dish soap mix for the 5 days a week for three weeks then 70% isopropyl alcohol only for prevention.

IF they still are around THEN invest in Azamax.
