C. lueddemanniana yellowing leaves
Hi all, this is my first post in this forum. I am quite new to orchids, and I am learning a lot from all of you here.
I bought a C. lueddemanniana about three weeks ago. The roots condition was not good. It had no new roots, and I was not sure whether the existing ones were dead or alive. So in order to induce new roots, I added moss under the stem, while I kept the old ones bare (following the advice from the seller).
Last week I noticed one of the oldest leaves turned yellow (the right most one on the picture), and just this morning, I noticed that another leave turned yellowish also (the one on the left).
I live in in a tropical region with high humidity, day temperature that can reach 32 C (90 F) and night temperature 24 C (75 F).
I appreciate any help on I can better take care of this orchid.
Thank you.
Daniel

Those roots actually look quite good to me. The leaves on the oldest growths are the ones that are yellowing, so I think that is OK. The plant may be been unpotted at a less-than-ideal time if you don't see new roots on the newest growth (on the left), but it may be preparing to grow some, drawing on those oldest pseudobulbs for energy. In your humid climate, leaving the plant bare root like this should be fine. The wood on which it is mounted is small. so when you see the start of new roots, you may want to mount it on something a little larger, in the direction of the new growth. To do that , just tie the plant (with its existing mount) to the new one. Only new roots will attach to the mount, but in the meantime, with your high humidity and suitable watering, the plant will do fine. Three weeks is a very short time in the growing cycle of an orchid... orchids teach patience.
