rotting roots is not nice which is why I advised you cut the dead roots off but everyone else here is telling you to better be safe (which will in my opinion definetely cause rot) but then again everyone here seems to be set on growing orchids using old methods developed 50 years ago and everyone too afraid to try something new.
I am leaving this forum and since my advice will not be missed make up your own mind.
I will just finish this post by showing off a root that I know is dead but I could fool anyone on here it seems lol
notice the longer root turns nice and green when watered - it's actually already long dead
if you follow the root you will encounter a brown patch - still alive acording to most it seems - so lets investigate the brown patch
once velamen removed we can then see the condition of the root underneath - if that is going to recover I am alladin
but the root will carry on to green up when watered for quite a while.
