Recovering cattleyai
Default Recovering cattleya

I got this cattleya off the clearance rack. It appears to be growing well off of the younger end of the rhizome.

Will the shriveled pseudobulbs on the older end of the plant ever recover?

Also, on a similar plant, there is a sheath. I’m planning to wait until it blooms to repot. However, I don’t want to wait too long and miss my window to repot (I don’t think the pot will make it through the winter). How long do I have to repot this plant? I’m keeping them outside in the Georgia summer.
Thanks
Ridley

Older pseudobulbs usually don't fully plump up after they have begun to collapse, but as long as they're green, whether with leaves or not, they are still photosynthesizing and storing resources for the colony.

As to the "repot or not" question, that's a judgement call for me, depending upon where the plant is in its root growth and how bad the potting medium is.

Ok thanks Ray, i'll go ahead and repot then. I'm more concerned with the health of the plant than the flower.
