The shade tent will do the trick and I'm sure they'll be very happy in the GA heat and humidity.
BTW - If you're going to be renting for awhile yet, you could always just pot up the hydrangea in a good sized pot for the patio. I got some tiny freebie PeeGees from the Arbor Foundation (for our yearly donation) a few years ago and have been growing them in a pot on the patio ever since and they have done beautifully. They even survived the winter of 2017/2018 when they were turned into a giant ice cube. Literally, they were in a block of ice and I thought I would lose them...but they survived. Just an idea.
