Yeppers, Sommeil. The only problem... if it burns, you won't know until it's a done deal. Err on the side of caution. If it does, eh... you'll know. And won't be the end of the world if you catch it quickly.

As far as starting to get that suntan look (reddish, purple-ish, etc) that's a slow process, not a fast one, and gives you time to react.

Didn't know you had a shade cloth... still looks pretty bright to go from inside to outside this time of year. I'd still shade it a bit more than the weakly hydrangea for the moment. Plant that thing, for Pete's Sake!
