Baby Root!
Talking Baby Root!

Hello all! More exciting news for me today, I noticed one of my Phals has a tiny baby root poking out! I have never had the pleasure of keeping orchids alive long enough for any kind of growth so all these little things are exciting and new to me, I hope you guys understand. To add icing on the cake, this same orchid has a new baby leaf poking out too! You guys I am no longer an orchid killer!

I do understand! It wasn't that many years ago that I was brand-new to growing orchids, and I still get excited to see new roots, leaves, spikes, buds, flowers, all the indications of healthy, happy orchids. It sounds like you are doing just fine.

Hard to tell for sure, but it looks to me that you're growing that WAY too dry.

I water them about twice a week, 3 once the temperature gets in the high 90’s. This was right before one of their soaks How often do you recommend watering? Btw, here’s an update on the root and as you can see it was “spa” day today

I cannot recommend a watering frequency, as that depends on your growing conditions.

Phals like to be evenly moist, as long as the roots can breathe nd are kept sufficiently warm.
