I知 keeping my plants outdoors. My Sharry baby is blooming, and I知 wondering it I can bring it inside to enjoy the fragrance and flowers, then put it back outside when it痴 finished flowering. I知 assuming this would be too much stress for the plant.
Also, how long will a happy oncidium bloom outside typically?
I do this all the time. Once the plant is in bloom, it sort of runs on "autopilot" and keeps on blooming. I love having my blooming orchids where I can look at them all the time.
There are a few for which changing their environment does shorten the bloom time. I notice this mostly on Pleurothallids that really like the outdoor cool nights with high humidity and might drop flowers if kept warm and dry for too long but they are the exceptions - you'll learn which ones those are by experience. Cattleyas should be allowed to open fully and "harden off" for a day or two before moving them inside to get the best durability of the flowers. But Oncidiums seem to totally not care. So the sort answer is, "Generally fine to bring them in, but there are exceptions to every broad statement."
For a plant like Sharry Baby that isn't particularly sensitive to changes in environment, it may actually prolong the life of the flowers to bring it inside where they aren't affected by excessive heat or wind, etc.
