Hi my name is Nancy I live in Michigan. I've been trying to figure out what to do with the new growth on my orchid. It was a gift and I was pleased when it started growing new leaves at the top but now what?:
That is a keiki, or a new baby phal. You can just seperate it from the old plant and put it in some bark mix and you will have an additional plant! Generally you should wait until the roots are long enough (at least 3" I believe), and your roots seem to be long enough.
What a nice gift, a double treat. I am going to move this thread to "beginners". Please feel free to go back to "Break the Ice" and formally introduce yourself.
