Each new plant can produce spikes and flowers just as the mother plant did. If you leave them together, you can get a much nicer display than if you try to separate them. At least until the babies are much bigger, leave them alone for sure. They are getting their strength from the mother plant - it is still alive
and photosynthesizing, just not growing any more.
