Blooms are falling off
Default Blooms are falling off

I’m a Beginner. I purchase a Phalaenopsis orchid from a local grocery store. I put the orchid in a south. facing window (placed on the window ledge) and made sure it had indirect light. I watered it once a week using distilled water. Temperature is 68 day time and 64 at night. After 2-3 weeks it dropped all its blooms and pods. However, the leaves look healthy. In fact it’s growing a new leaf. So I purchased a second phlebotomists and it’s now doing the same thing. What am I doing wrong? The medium in the pot is bark. I need some help.

Are you giving them all the blood they desire?

But as for serious advice, it's hard to say. Orchid flowers don't last forever, and you don't know how long they've been blooming when you got them, nor do you know what kind of care they've received at the store, in transport, etc.

South window might be too much light. But, if it's obstructed and if the plants are far from the window, it might be too little. It's impossible to know without being there or even seeing photos.

You didn't make any mention of temperatures or humidity. Those are important factors to consider since low humidity is bad, high or low temperatures can affect the plant's health.

It's also impossible to determine if watering once a week is sufficient. That might be too little. If the mix is in bad shape or if there's lots of moss in the middle of the root ball, once a week might be too much.

Cleveland, do you mean a Phalaenopsis orchid? Also known as a moth orchid?
