Getting enough light....

A general question.

Is it safe to say that if an orchid is growing new roots and/or putting out a new flower spike that is getting enough light?

I struggle tremendously with making sure each orchid has the right light under the tree.....

Bump.

While awaiting answers from others I feel are more qualified, I will say that the three main things I like to see on my orchids are: healthy foliage, healthy roots, flower spikes. If I'm seeing all three of those, I figure I must be doing something right.

To be sure, there's more to it, but I'll leave that to those with more experience. I've only been growing orchids for a little under four years now, and I've had my own issues with light.

I have been growing orchids for nearly 25 years, and while my "guesses" have certainly improved, I also now push the envelope harder, looking for what I can get away with. So each new plant is still an adventure. And I agree with Mountaineer, if it is grows healthily and blooms, I did it right. Guidelines are just that, a starting point. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it...
