No clue. I haven't heard anything about it or used it. I'm of the old school: if it works why change?

well I repotted it and now I fear for mi chid As I said I repotted in bark (soaked with KLN) but is been a couple of days now and the top roots look dry (I was thinking of putting a little moss to stop this) and I can see through the clear pot the viable roots it had are turning yellow, a couple of them even turned brown I am trying really hard ot be a good orchid mommy, it has 2 long flower spikes still in bloom, so my only guess right now i to cut them off (all the way to the base? )
Could it be I used too much KLN? am I burning it alive?
What else could I do?? Please help guys, thank you

No, you probably didn't use too much KLN. You aren't (probably) burning it alive (unless it's sitting on a stove burner - that's meant to be a joke!) Be patient. Whatever was causing the root problem has been working on the roots. It's not the old roots you care about (well, you probably do, but you have to let them go) You want new root growth. New root nubbins (that's a Dorothy term) should be forming in a few weeks. In mean time, yes you probably will see some devastating color action as the old roots die off. The action you should be prepared for if you see all the old roots die off, is what we call Spag-n-bag here at Orchid Board. This means you need to place plant in a sealed big zip-lock bag (like a gallon sized bag) out of sun or really bright light (something like east window.) Don't water while it's in the bag. Don't treat the plant any more till some action occurs. Right now there has been a lot of shock and we want the plant to settle down. It probably wants to survive and should do something soon.

Ross you are funny! well mi phal is nowhere near my stove
God I was staring to worry, so far I cut back one of te flowers spikes, it only had one flower left, so I let it go, the other one is still blossoming.
I did put a clear plastic bag around the pot just below the leaves like a semi-sphag-n-bag, I guess we'll see what happens

Every Phal I purchase has been in moss. Moss and I don't get along very well if it's the only medium. Upon a recommendation from a phal grower I have changed the mix to be:
part hydroton, part charcoal chips and part coconut coir ( small amount of spag. moss gets in there too). Put some time release fertalizer in there too.
Don't overdo the coir if its a 6" or bigger pot. I use clear plastic pots, add a few packing peanuts in the bottom then position the roots and fill in with the mix. I have phals blooming all over the place and I can look at the pot to see when it needs to be watered again when those roosts are green let it go a few more days. Smaller pots will probably need more watering or extra coir. This mix drains well but retains moisture. Mine usually go about 7-8 days for the 6" pots.

Thank you Lorraine, I think moss and I don't get along either My phal seems to be struggling to adapt to the bark as new medium because I think is multitasking between growing roots and being in bloom. so I will, as always, hope for the best.
Thank you for sharing your potting medium I will wait until its a little less stressed and give it a try.
Thank you !

Well unfortunatelly my phal keeps strugglin, i think I overpotted trying to heal the overwatering issue, since it was in bloom it sort of lost a lot of roots, but I've cut the flower spike off and bagged it , I hope it recovers like its roomy did.
Fingers crossed everyone!!!!
