Yellow Spotting on Dendrobium Phalaenopsis
Default Yellow Spotting on Dendrobium Phalaenopsis

Hi all!

I have a dendrobium phalaenopsis that I’ve noticed had a yellow spot at the junction of its cane. The spot was soft and mushy so I suspected a bacterial rot; I unpotted it and found that the yellow has spread all the way around its base.

A simple solution would be to cut this cane (cane 1) away from the other growths but this other cane (cane 2) apparently also had yellow mushy spots, though at the cane. Cutting both infected canes would leave only these tiny leafless nubs, which I doubt could survive on their own.

Then how should I go about saving this orchid?

Is there any way of salvaging the infected canes?

How do I induce keiki growth on the dendrobiums? Are there any methods that do not require keiki paste?

Thank you so much in advance!
