Light might be another factor for non-blooming. Cyms really need a lot of light - in winter too. An easy orchid is one that you have the conditions for without going to a lot of trouble. Cyms are super-easy in southern California, and I think not that much more difficult in the inland desert if water and some summer shading are available. They can be a serious challenge in areas where indoor growing is required. Hence the breeding of the so-called "warmth-tolerant" Cyms that don't need the fall cool-down to bloom... I never met a Cym (except maybe for a few highland Chinese species) that had any problem tolerating triple-digits F but some are more forgiving than others of the lack of the fall diurnal differential combined with continued bright days.
