I have just gotten my hands on this orchid in an attempt to revive it. As you can see its condition is quite dire.
1) Should I cut off the shriveled up pseudobulbs?
2) Should I cut off the white roots? I'm having trouble telling apart the dead roots from the ones alive.
3) Is it advisable to pot it in clay pellets?
4) Any ideas on what genus this orchid is? I think it's either oncidium or miltonia.
If the brown pseudobulbs are just "husks" that are brittle, you may remove them. It they are still firm, they may still be providing nutrients and fuel to the rest of the colony, so should remain attached.
DO NOT cut the white roots! They are the healthy ones.
