I did end up getting a flask from eBay! My fingers are crossed, but so far so good. They are the most fragile things I have ever touched! Hopefully they survive.

I purchased my first flask from ebay In May. They were much easier than I thought. I found out that even the smallest little plantlets can survive. It can be addicting. Since my first flask I have purchased 6 more. I can't wait to see them grow.

Any tips? What was your method? I used a seedling mix which was basically tiny bark with a little pearlite, and I rinsed in warm water then fungicide and potted them together.

The roots and even the leaves were incredibly delicate though, and I snapped soooo many roots just trying to gently separate them. It was a bit frustrating, but hopefully they grow well for me.

Best of wishes in this endeavor... I hope that you are both young and patient. You selected one of the slowest-growing species... Assuming that some survive, 15 years from flask to flower is optimistic. Likely even longer.

I’m in my 30s, so young enough I suppose LOL
Sounds like they will take almost as long as children to grow up!

Or longer... Contrast with Phals that only take a year or two (at least under the ideal conditions of commercial growers, for them even less) Their fast "turnaround" is an important factor to get inexpensive blooming Phals. And why mature blooming size multifloral Paphs are very expensive.

I would like to get some Phals too, but haven’t seen any that really strike my fancy. There’s something to be said for a quicker turn around!
