Steve...I don't know how it happened!!! It's like I was on auto-drive or something! :faint: I'll just have to tell hubby that I was finally able to find the one I couldn't get imported for less than $200.00 ;) He'll get over it...eventually :D

Or you could just not tell him...... Thats how my collection has grown to over 100 plants and my girlfriend is none the wiser!!! lol Definitely post pics though!!!

Nah...gotta tell him. It should arrive on Weds of next week and I'll be recovering from knee surgery being done the day before so it won't be bad ;)

Who is selling Peristeria elata at $300? How large is this specimen?

 300$ HOLLY SSSSSSS....ingle plant :D it must be huge for that price!!!!

you get legally grown Peristeria elata in Europe for 20$ (13€)!!!

Hey Sue, didn't I send you a piece of my Peristeria elata f. major?
Knee surgery? I hope you recover well and feel better! :)

I agree, the P. elata seems to be WAY overpriced! I obtained mine for free, and it is just a weed now! Should be planted as a terrestrial for optimum growth (also deters drying out of p-bulbs).

For a 3 bulb, VERY mature division, a good price should be around $20, though a local grower in Sarasota sells them at $10. I think the reason that this species may be sold at an exorbitant price is because it is listed on CITES App. I, which in reality, doesn't mean much. You will find similar exorbitant prices with the very common Cattleya trianae or even Renanthera imshootiana... It's just a marketing scheme to add some "rarity" to it.

Nope... :bua:

The knee surgery is arthroscopic, not major stuff...yet :)

It's nice to see you around the board so much lately :)

It arrived today along with a small Zygopetalum brachypetalum!

The plant is about 4 ft tall with huge bulbs...and what seems to be a downward growing spike full of buds :scratchhead: it's very stiff so it's not that it cracked and fell over but has actually grown this way...should that be?

Great looking plant!! Mine are still dormant for some reason.....:scratchhead: What is the media that it is potted in??? Also, I thought the spikes grew up, rather than down??:hmm I would ask EOoM about that, it might just have been in an awkward position at the farm. Thanks for the :photo:!! :goodluck:

I emailed Mike at EOoM. I'm thinking it must've just grown in "funny" but I'd like to make sure :)

I didn't really inspect anything, supposed to have my knee elevated ;)
I gave them a good misting and I'll look further tomorrow
