1) No fertilizer for a plant with no roots. Fertilizer is very low on the hierarchy of plant needs.

2) Misting the leaves is a poor way to feed a good many orchids, as the waxy cuticle layers prevent it from coming into contact with tissues that can absorb nutrients.

3) The hormones in kelp extracts are likely to be the best way to stimulate root growth. Look for one that does not also contain fertilizer.
