Mea culpa!

Brain failed to read:
mass/volume≈ppm (‰-just testing the symbol code)
because mass/volume ≠ % (alas, couldn't find code for ≠).

(Not trying to be pedantic or obtuse. Just haven't use this stuff since college, if I even did then. Kinda like calculus.)

Don't know if there is a Wal-mart near you, but the one here across the river in New Hampshire has an RO machine, and the refills are 37cents a gallon. I refill my gallon jugs A LOT with this because I use RO water in my humidifiers. Anyway, I also have a counter top RO system that enables me to make my own, which I do for my carnivorous plants. I'd use it for my orchids but with my water pressure it takes forever. That said, if you check out 'First Rays' web site, you'll find the same counter top system, and it is (for me) very affordable. Ray is a member here and has chimed in earlier. So if you need a small system, that's the way I'd go, but if you need a big one I can't offer any suggestions.

If you have a good local aquarium shop they may sell RO water fairly inexpensively. I did this before I began collecting rain.

The ‰ symbol usually means per mil which 1/10th of percent. So, 1‰ = 0.1% = 1/1000 = one part per thousand (ppt).
