Thanks! I know that the taxonomists don't like monotypic genera, but why it got lumped into Phalaenopsis instead of Vanda ?? A lot drier here than in south Florida, but it seems to be happy with the watering that it does get. Those roots are very thick, almost 1/4 inch in diameter.

this is the "Perfection" cross that Orchid Inn had a few of last year.
the heat has been blessing it to Texas this summer.

Was leaning over in the pot so I had to scoot it over some. Repacked all around the fat roots in peanuts and then some large bark over the top. Some scraps shoved down the sides keep it from rocking. Put a wire crossbar over the top and down the sides to lock it in place. It's a no wiggler now

Looks to me like those roots just want to run free. Maybe time to stop fighting it, let them do what they want and just figure out how to hang it up. I have long since stopped trying to keep roots orderly, and the plants seem happier. I have to duck or dodge when I walk under them as they elongate, my problem not the orchids'. |

one of my homemade cedar slat baskets might be in the works for this one
I think let the new shoots get a few more inches tall where I can lead them out the top ..
more ideas and not enough time to work them all out!!!

No s/h for THIS one. This is B. 'Little stars' (nodosa x cordata). I got it as a cutting when a local member divided a massive specimen and donated it for the raffle. Everyone ended up with at least one piece . The cut up plant covered a 6 ft round table!  |

Not as showy as some other awesome pictures in this thread, but still Coelogyne nitida seems to be one of those orchids sending out all their new roots at once.

was going to repot it bec it has had some problems. It solved its owns problem. The roots were very shallow and plant kept falling over. Put the roots in little ball of sphagnum and set into a net pot. Plant doesnt wiggle anymore. I think this is good till next year
