after repotting my latest Cattleya it just started producing roots like crazy.
You can't show how long it has taken for roots to appear but these have practically popped up overnight.
The only thing I don't understand is why it has left just the tiniest gap for the new bulb poking out between the roots and to the right where there is no eye there is a big space left. The architect on this plant needs to get sacked

Nice! It looks like you had a transparent pot.
If you're in the midst of a transplant, you may now be wondering how to remove the media without demolishing the roots. Roots are plant mass no different than the top. I hate to lose it.

When I have impacted roots, I just blast the root ball with a hose. Whatever is loose and broken down washes out, I just leave whatever is stuck to roots, pot it up in fresh medium and I and the plant are both happy.
