Cym. kanran roots are over 12'' long and as thick as my fingers :D However, finding a suitable pot that is not too big in the US is a real challenge.

I suspect that you are looking for those tall Asian pots. Just over the LA county line, check out House of Bonsai - The Legendary Bonsai Superstore Online , store is physically located in Los Alamitos so you could visit them. |

i use weird pot bc i think the typical cym pots are wayyyy too small---or 2-3 gallon landscaping pots

Here is what I found when I unpotted this Cym.... lots and lots of good roots, with a bunch of new ones coming along. It had been in the pot for about 4 years, I knew that it was due,because I was getting a lot of weeds, which grow especially well when the bark is starting to break down. Indeed, the mix had pretty much turned to dirt, was very wet.
