When purple anthocyanins turn black (or almost black)

My Catt (former Laelia) tenebrosa developed a nice intense purple at the base of its new leaf.
Now it has been getting 5 hrs of winter sun, protected by a set of almost transparent curtains so I consider this normal.
But today, the purple area became suddenly dark, almost black. In any case I will move it so the it get less sun but I wonder if this is the beginning of a sunburn (or it's already a sun burn).

What do you think?

I wouldn't worry about it yet. I have a couple bepi green dragons that I let get very serious sun in the summer and they turned a deep deep purple/brown like this. No harm done to them. I've even seen darker phals which didn't get sunburn. As long as your temperatures were cool enough with high light exposure, they ought to be alright.

I think that's a sheathing bract on its way to drying out.

That's one of the possibilities I have thought.
I was a little worried because this Catt doesn't need as much light as the most of them (although I've been acclimatizing it to it).

I'll keep monitoring...when it blooms (or die) I'll post again.
