A few days ago I purchased some seaweed extract and applied that. When I looked today there were little green roots popping out all over the place. Obviously I can’t be certain it was the seaweed extract that bought this on - but the root tips are so green (they look almost fluorescent green against the pine bark) that I think if they were there before I would have noticed them.

This is my first time using seaweed. The extract is just a local product which makes no claims about being good for orchids.

I’ll be interested to see if any new leaf/stem growth ensues.

I’ve grown orchids before but never studied them closely. Now I’m obsessing.

Cheers

Too true.

Looking at them today I see that about 50% of them have new growths from the base of the maturing pseudo bulb. Theyre still small and whether there is enough warm weather and long daylight left for them to grow to full size is yet to be seen.

It seems that as soon as the sheath around the pseudobulb turns from green to brown the new growth bursts through.
