hey so i feel like my high light requiring orchids (epi, dend, cattleya, cymb, and vanda) would do better in a heated greenhouse
but i can't move them until the 3rd week of the month
will they be alright in the less than ideal lighting until then?
I expect they will be just fine in lower than optimal light for a little while.
Keep in mind that orchids are very successfully shipped in closed boxes, getting no light for a week or more.
Another common thing to do is to move a blooming plant into a room that would be too dark to grow the plant year round but where the flowers can be enjoyed. Mom always thanks me for having a blooming plant or two in the bathroom and I haven't noticed any adverse affects on the plants.
Give them what light you can and don't stress over a couple weeks. Depending on how bright the heated greenhouse is, you may want to give them a bit of extra shade in the greenhouse for a transitional period as they adjust to more light.
I agree, a few weeks of less than ideal light is not bad for the plants. I leave mine in a rather dimly lit room (curtains drawn) for 2-3 weeks each summer when I'm on vacation. When I get back the plants are fine and happily adjust to their rack in the window again.
