HELP!! Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' Disease Female
Exclamation HELP!! Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' Disease

Please advise and help!

I woke up this morning to find my Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' with a bad disease. Back story, I've had this orchid for about 5 weeks. I watered it this past Sunday and one of the leaves was a bit yellow, not spotted. At that point, I just thought the leaf was dying. The orchid looked the same for the next day or so, but then this morning not good at all. How can I save it? I will be leaving for work soon, but plan to do what I can when I get home this evening.

UPDATE: I spoke with the vendor and apparently this is okay. This is my first monnierara, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've never had leaves on other orchids look this bad, with spots, as they were dying. Also, it is expected for the bulb to lose it's leaves as it becomes dormant.

However, this is one other concern I didn't mention. There are sticky dew drops on the backside of the leaves. I wiped them with rubbing alcohol. Is this typical?

Great link.

With the dew I would fear insect pests, you should check to see if you have any scale or mealy bug. However, that being said, I know nothing about these plants specifically and it might be nothing to worry about.

Think of it this way...this orchid gives you a break from caring for it.

Yep, this is normal. No need to worry about it.

Yeah, I checked for bugs and didn't see any. I think it is just beginning to go dormant. Mike from Main Street Orchids told me that I can probably expect the leaves to fall off within a couple weeks.

I have one of these and the same thing--all leaves turned yellow, green spots, sticky dew. They all fell off and it's been bare for a couple weeks and the bulb looks great. Pretty sure this is all typical.

Oh yeah and stop watering NOW. They aren't supposed to be watered while they go dormant like this.
