If growth is getting yellow like that you might get them overfed with light. Make sure you get the plant adapted to light. I made the mistake by punching in a powerfull lightsource too fast too close and nearly got the plant heavily burned. If you use special growlamp CFL's bewarned they are very,very powerfull and greatly underestimated.

I have moved the lamp nearly 15" away from the vanda and will now watch whats gonna happen. When the purple tinge goes away I will move the lamp a little bit closer and wait again. I keep doing this until I see just a little bit of purple tinge coming and the I guess I found the perfect distance.

Anyone can tell me how far they keep their plants away from the bulbs?
