Is this a sign of a viral infection on my C. Fabia seedling? I recently moved and had all my plants sitting outside during the move. At first, I thought it was sunburn, but after reading up on viruses, the black discoloration seemed suspect. I don't reuse water between plants and I sterilize my cutting tools, so the only source of the virus that I can think of is from the original grower. http://staugorchidsociety.org/PDF/Vi...ySueBottom.pdf

I also posted this question in the AOS Facebook group and received so many responses stating that this is black rot. The black discoloration has been present since my move 2 months ago and has not spread. The plant is also currently in active growth with two leads.

I don't know what it is. I would also guess black rot. I would not have that much moss around a Cattleya. I would worry it would stay too wet and invite rot. I can't tell whether that's your sole potting medium.

It's a sphagnum mix with small grade Orchiata bark. The moss dries out completely in 2 days, so I'm not worried about rot. It was just repotted from semi hydro into this mix.
