Default liquid food ppm?

Please help me understand to make sure i'm on the right track. I purchased some liquid 10-15-10 fertilizer. I will be shooting for a total ppm of 150. To achieve this, I measured out 100 drops equaling one teaspoon. The recomended dosage on the container is 28 drops Gal. Does this sound like too much food?

You will never know your parts per million (ppm) without using a TDS meter......or a rocket scientist. Each one of those drops is a concentrated amount. Therefore, each drop has a certain ppm, not just one part per drop. I feed mine at about 1300 ppm, and then flush them a little. Most fertilizers' recommended dosage is about half that, so your safe to go a little over the recommended dosage (as long as you flush), but I wouldn't go 150 drops. This will more than likely be a very lethal dose.

You may find Ray's fertilizer calculator helpful. Ray recommends shooting for 125ppm N at each watering. Scroll down the bottom of the page, type in the N value of your fertilizer (10) and your target ppm N (125), I did it for you, and it's a bit less than 1 teaspoon of fertilizer, so what you're feeding now is good.
This calculator is great and I use it all the time now, as it has taken the guesswork out of feeding! Personally, I measure my liquid fertilizers with a syringe since french teaspoons are not exactly the same size as american ones.

I agree. I do feel that the liquid is going to be more accurate than the powder that i was using. How soon after feeding are you flushing? And what technique are you using? Thanks for the info.

Camille, thanks for looking into it for me. I did find Rays ppm calculator useful. I was concerned after finding out 100 drops/Gal = 150ppm. It seemed high to me being a newb that I am.

I feed, then hose 'em down 5-10 minutes later. In the summer, I water at mid week, also.....but it's hot here in Florida.
