Is this Disa in cultivation? Does anyone sell it? I once read that it was in a few private collections... Wondering if there's some little-known vendor or something. I would also just be interested to know how it has been successfully grown. Thanks!

I'm not sure who is selling Disa in the US currently; most of the sources (Olympic Orchids, Afrodisa, Asuka Orchids) no longer carry them. You might have the best luck looking at the European vendors--especially the German nurseries and seeing if they have any leads. You might also try shooting Thomas Mirenda at the Smithsonian an email to pick his brain.
Sorry I can't be of more help,
Adam
